Bierther Submikron Sanding discs stand for Precise surface finishing with uniform material removal and high accuracy in terms of Flatness, Planar parallelism and Roughness. Depending on the application, different types of grinding wheels are used – including bonded abrasive wheels as well as diamond and CBN grinding wheels for machining hard materials such as ceramics or hard metal. The low process forces enable stable and reproducible results while maintaining high removal rates.

Cast iron lapping disc

The cast qualities used are characterised by Cinder-free, homogeneous base structure with uniform graphite distribution in form, size, and small hardness differences across the entire cross-section.

Possible grooves Ungeared, radial groove, waffle groove, spiral groove

Steel lapping disc

We predominantly use S355 one, which has undergone heat treatment to eliminate stresses from the material.
On request, we supply all desired steel grades.

Support disk

These unused discs serve as reliable pulley unit in continuous use for polishing discs and polishing cloths. Versions available in: Aluminium (optional with non-stick coating), cast iron, steel, granite.

Copper lapping disc

For all types of lapping machines, we supply the matching lapping discs and segments made from Copper.

Bronze polishing disc

For all types of lapping machines, we supply the matching lapping discs and segments made from Bronze.

Grinding discs for grains

High-performance grinding discs offer high material removal rates, long service lives and an economical alternative to diamond and CBN grinding discs. They prevent wash-outs in soft material zones, thereby reducing surface defects such as „orange peel“ in subsequent polishing processes.

In many applications, water suffices as a coolant, significantly simplifying cleaning and process handling. Typical areas of application include the production of cutters, shears, and knives.

Silicon carbide disc

  • available in grit sizes F80-F1500 
  • Possible grooves: grooveless, radial groove
  • Use with SiC dressing

Aluminium oxide disc

  • available in grit sizes F80-F1500
  • Possible grooves: grooveless, radial groove
  • Use with AI2O3 Alignment ring

Nut types

Unused

  • Application: small parts, polishing pad backing disc
  • Advantage: lower tendency to scratch, lower lapping agent consumption

Radial nut

  • Maximum depth 40 mm
  • Application: Standard Products
  • Benefit: cost-effective, higher material removal rate than with non-grooved discs, better flatness

Waffle nut

  • Maximum depth 40 mm
  • Application: Double-sided lapping machine, high flatness requirements, difficult-to-machine materials
  • Benefit: cost-effective, higher material removal rate than with non-grooved discs, better flatness

Spiral nut

  • Max. nut depth double nut width
  • Application: High flatness requirements, difficult-to-machine materials
  • Advantage: higher removal rate and better flatness than with radial grooves

For combined processes, we also offer composite polishing pads and bi-composite polishing pads.
